Phytocare Skincare Review

Hey guys!
Omg! I feel like it’s literally been forever. What better way to start this year than with a post about products that have literally saved my skin throughout the festive season.
Before we get to the exciting part I would just like to thank each and every one of you for all the love and support throughout 2017. My year would not have been what it was if it weren’t for you.
So Happy new year to each and every one of you. May this year be everything you want it to be and more and also, thank you so much for all the sweet Birthday wishes. You guys made my day extra special.
I’m not gonna lie, I started this post sometime in December and then life got really busy. So it’s long overdue.
This amazing woman behind this brand contacted me and asked if I would like to try out some of their products and write my honest and unbiased experience of these products. I obviously did not hesitate and jumped at the opportunity. I love trying out new products and also feel that by agreeing to review products for a company that you’re opening opportunities for future projects.

Why should you choose Phytocare?

“When you chose natural and organic skincare, you make the conscious decision to use products whose ingredients work with the natural and sophisticated systems of your skin.
When your skin is given the optimal nutrients, both internally through your diet, and externally through skincare, you are equipping your skin to care for and mend itself.
The Phytocare range is 100% natural, derived from nature’s finest selection of botanical carrier and essential oils, plant extracts, moisturisers and antioxidants, natural humectants as well as plant hydrosols.
Our clients can rest assured that they are feeding the largest organ in their bodies-their skin-with pure, natural skinfood, completely free of parabens, fragrances, synthetics and harmful chemicals found in mainstream skincare.

I received 2 products that she specifically chose for me after I had described my skin type and then, in the beginning of December she sent me one of their new limited edition products. I’ll be discussing the products in the order of how I would use it for my evening routine. “

Clarifying Clay 25g – R229

This is their new limited edition product that launched in December. I’m not sure if it’s been made permanent but it’s still available for purchase on their website.

” A gentle, exfoliating polish and mask, made with organic arrowroot for silky soft skin, kaolin and bentonite to extract impurities and unclog pores, apricot kernel for gentle exfoliation, lemongrass to brighten, ylang-ylang to soothe the skin and rose geranium to improve blood circulation and promote flawless skin. The skin is left rejuvenated, bright and glowing.
Bentonite clay, kaolin clay, organic arrowroot, apricot kernel granules, rose geranium essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, ylang-ylang essential oil.”

My Experience

I saw the Instagram post on this Clarifying clay facial polish and got so excited because I love these types of products. Those who follow me and have read my skincare routine and products I love, know that I love clay masks. If you look at the ingredient list you’ll see why this is such an amazing facial polish. I’m gonna go through a few ingredients that really stood out for me and that I know work wonders for the skin.
Bentonite Clay – This has to be one of my favourite healing clays. It’s made from minerals that will help with the overproduction of sebum so is great for those who suffer from severe acne. Not only does it draw toxins from the skin but it also exfoliates removing all dead skin cells.
Organic Arrowroot – This is the first time I’ve heard of this ingredient so I did my research and I must say that I’m quite amazed by how many great benefits and healing qualities it has. This ingredient enables active ingredients to penetrate the upper levels of your skin as it has great moisture-absorbing qualities. It’s a light soft powder that enables the skin to absorb more moisture thereby leaving it feeling silky soft.
Rose Geranium Essential Oil – This is another ingredient that I haven’t heard of. After reading a few articles I discovered that this ingredient is an anti-inflammatory which is amazing for those of us who get painful breakouts and need products that will sooth the pimples. This oil also has cicatrisant (healing) abilities meaning that you can massage it onto scars to help fade the marks away. It’s astringent properties mean that you can use it to tighten sagging skin and basically reinvigorate your skin’s appearance.
This impressive list of key ingredients will ensure that your pores are unclogged, that any excess sebum and toxins are absorbed and that your skin is left feeling polishes, silky soft and radiant.

Phytosqualane 10ml – R275

” Phytosqualane is formulated with 100% purified plant-derived squalane. Squalane is the ‘oil-less oil’- a non-greasy, super absorbent miracle oil, whose key trait is that it locks in and prevents moisture loss from the skin, thereby increasing not only its own efficiency but the efficiency of other skin products used in conjunction with it.
Phytosqualane is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, and is non-irritating and free of fragrance.
100% purified squalane  (derived from sugar cane)”

My experience

I was immediately sold when I read that it’s an oil-less oil. As some of you know, I have an extremely oily t-zone and tend to break out in those areas. Oily skin, however, doesn’t necessarily mean that your skin is hydrated. I go through stages where I can see that my skin lacks moisture.
Squalane is an antioxidant, prevents UV damage and the formation of age spots, promotes cell growth and is an antibacterial. What I absolutely love about this oil is that it doesn’t feel greasy. It feels extremely light, spreads easily, absorbs quickly and locks in the moisture.
I usually save my oils for my evening routine but you don’t have to worry about looking like a greaseball with this oil. It really works amazingly well under makeup.
I used it for about a month every evening before the other oil (which I will discuss shortly). This mixes well with other products, so its perfect to start off with and then apply the rest of your other oils or serums. My skin looks well nourished, plump and youthful.

Superskin Elixir 20ml – R299 (currently on sale for R249)

This has to be my favourite product from the three I’ve tried so far. I’ve been using it as part of my evening routine for the past 6-7 weeks and love what it has done for my skin.

” A potent anti-ageing, multivitamin night serum which penetrates deep into the skin tissue to stimulate collagen production, and to delicately moisturise the skin. Prevents and minimizes fine lines and dryness. Also aids in diminishing pigmentation.

organic rosehip oil, cold-pressed pumpkinseed oil, apricot kernel oil, organic sweet orange essential oil, natural Vitamin E oil(d-alpha tocopherols)”

My Experience

I introduced anti-ageing products when I turned 25 because well, prevention is better than cure. I have fine line under my eyes, fine laughing lines and then some on my forehead because I’m quite animated lol facial expressions are my thing.
I turned 30 December last year and I must say I’m quite pleased with the way my skin looks. I’ve taken care of my skin from a very young age and it shows.
Rosehip oil – this is my holy grail oil. I’ve been using this oil for years, so I know it works. This Elixir contains rosehip oil so you’ll introduce an oil that contains natural fatty acids that’s vital for repairing damaged skin, for skin rejuvenation and a great antioxidant booster.
Cold pressed Pumpkinseed oil – This is another All-Around Anti-Aging Superpower oil. This oil contains fatty acids that will hydrate, sooth and restores the youthful appearance of your skin.
This is truly an amazing all round anti ageing oil. It contains powerful ingredients that will guarantee amazing results with continuous use.

Final Thoughts

I’m super impressed with the products I’ve tried so far. What I love most about this brand is that they produce products that contain natural and organic ingredients.
I would definitely recommend this brand to those who love natural products. I’ve seen amazing results especially throughout the festive season when my skin was acting up due to the alcohol and junk food consumption.
Next on my list is the Healixir and minted mist facial toner.
Have you guys heard of this brand? Do you love natural organic products? Would you purchase any of these products?
If you haven’t heard of them then please do yourself a favour and check out their website and follow them on Instagram for updates on new products as well as sale.

Toodles Stunners!
