Embracing the Silence: My Three-Year Break from Blogging and Social Media After Two Babies
Hi beauties
It feels surreal to be typing these words after a three-year hiatus. Life has a way of sweeping us off our feet, doesn’t it? In my case, the sweet chaos of motherhood, twice over, led me away from the keyboard and into a world of baby giggles, sleepless nights and countless diaper changes. Two babies in two years, if that doesn’t redefine life, I don’t know what does!
But now, as I sit here, sipping lukewarm coffee (because, let’s be honest, hot coffee is a myth for moms), I’m ready to share my journey with you.
The decisions
Three years ago, I made a conscious decision to step back from the online world. The platforms that once fueled my creativity and connected me with like-minded souls suddenly felt overwhelming. The constant comparison, the pressure to curate the perfect feed and the never-ending notifications, all became too much.
Motherhood demanded my full presence and I gave in wholeheartedly. It wasn’t just about adapting to a new role; it was about navigating the rollercoaster of raising two little humans back-to-back.
What I Gained
1. Presence Over Pixels
• Motherhood taught me the art of being present. Those tiny fingers exploring the world, the first steps, the messy high-chair meals, demanded my attention. And I gave it willingly.
• I learned that life’s most beautiful moments happen offline when you’re not reaching for your phone to capture them.
2. Rediscovering My Voice
• Away from the noise, I found my voice again. Not the polished, SEO-friendly voice, but the raw, unfiltered one, the one that whispered lullabies and sang off-key in the nursery.
• I filled my phone notes with snippets of our days, no hashtags or likes, just words my little loves will be able to read someday.
3. Prioritizing Self-Care
• Motherhood is a marathon, not a sprint. I realized that taking care of myself wasn’t selfish, it was essential.
• I traded Instagram story filters for face masks and the glow on my skin told the story of someone who was truly trying despite it being hard.
The Guilt
Ah, the guilt, the unwelcome guest at every mom’s table. I felt guilty for not posting consistently, for not engaging with my followers and for not being the content creator I once was. But then I looked into my children’s eyes and the guilt melted away.
Lessons Learned
1. Comparison Is the Thief of Joy
• Social media thrives on comparison. We measure our worth in likes and followers. But motherhood taught me that joy lies in the messy, imperfect moments, the ones that can’t be filtered or cropped.
2. Authenticity Trumps Perfection
• I no longer strive for the perfect flat lay or the flawless selfie. Instead, I’ll share the real stuff, the tantrums, the sleepless nights, the triumphs and the tears.
• I hope that people will be able to relate because authenticity resonates, right?
The Return
So, here I am, a little wiser, a lot more tired, but overflowing with stories. My blog may have cobwebs and my Instagram grid may lack cohesion or content, but my heart is full.
To all the moms out there, whether you’re in the trenches of newborn life or navigating the teenage years, remember this: Your story matters. Whether you share it in a blog post, a whispered conversation, or a messy crayon drawing, it matters.
Thank you for welcoming me back into this virtual space. Let’s embrace the silence, celebrate the chaos and find beauty in the ordinary.
With love,
Yolanda

So beautifully and honestly said my friend! I chuckled through this and nodded my head….I relate so much to this even though I am out of the trenches as far as toddlers and little kids are concerned.
Can’t wait to see what your new journey is going to look like here on the blog…and I am all for unfiltered and real <3
