Brand Review: "Freedom" + Giveaway

Hey guys
This is a pretty exciting post and we have another brand that falls under tambeauty.com who develops and manufactures beauty brands such as, Freedom, Makeup Revolution (MUR) and I {Heart} Makeup. I reviewed the MUR Iconic 1 palette last week which is an amazing dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette. If you haven’t read my post on this palette then please click here.
I purchased my MUR Iconis 1 palette from Glamnglosssa , they also stock Freedom products so please visit their site. I decided to try out their London Pro Lipstick – Retro Mattes Collection and what really got my attention about these lipsticks is the fact that they are a retro matte finish. Matte and retro matte finishes are by far my favourite. I then visited freedommakeupsa who sells a huge selection of Freedom makeup and skincare. A blogger friend of mine reviewed one of the Freedom highlighters and it looked so amazing. I knew right away that this would be the other product from this brand I wanted to review.

Freedom Makeup London Pro Lipstick – Retro Mattes Collection

There are 5 lipsticks in this set which I think is amazing considering what they retail for. They are honestly so affordable that it’s pretty unbelievable.

Packaging

The lipsticks come in a cute box, big enough to store 5 lipsticks. You’ll find each shade name and colour indication on the sides of the box but I must mention that the colours printed on the box aren’t a true indication of the lipstick shades.

The actual lipsticks come in a black plastic tube that has the brand “Freedom” printed in white. The shade names are printed at the bottom of each lipstick and you’ll notice that there’s a little transparent section at the bottom that shows the shade. If you remove this transparent container ( warning: it’s not easy to remove) you’ll find that it’s filled with more lipstick. I think this is great especially if you run out of your favourite shade.

Lipstick shades, formula and lasting power

The set consists of 5 different shades and I’ll go through each one below
Memory – this is a white base pale pink shade. It isn’t too flattering on my skin tone but I love pairing it with a darker lipliner to create a stunning ombre look.

Nostalgia –  a gorgeous muted violet shade. If you guys follow me on Instagram then you would know that purple lipsticks are some of my favourite shades.

Flashback – this is a beautiful bright barbie pink shade. It’s not a neon pink but bright enough to be bold.

Dated – a classic red that has subtle orange undertones but will definitely suit most skin tones.

Retro – a brighter red that is definitely deeper and darker than the previous red.

The formula of these lipsticks feels very creamy and actually looks creamy after you have just applied them. Once it dries down it continues to feel creamy on the lips but it does settle to a semi-matte finish. I gave these lipsticks about 10min to dry down to see if they were transfer-proof. These feel rich and velvety on the lips so I assumed it would take longer to dry down. I tested it on the back of my hand and they do transfer. Some shades dry down better than others and I found that there’s minimal transfer after a few hours of wear. It’s weird because some of these almost become more matte, the longer you’ve had them on your lips. Some of these do bleed ever so slightly, nothing crazy, so I would suggest using a lipliner to prevent this.

They are pigmented enough to last about 5-6 hours but you have to touch up after eating extremely oily food. What I love about them is that they fade gradually and still look good even when they’re slightly faded so you won’t feel the need to reapply. I would say they look like a stunning blotted lip. I really am pleasantly surprised by how comfortable these feel on the lips even hours after application.

Freedom Pro Highlight Powder in Glow

The very first time I saw this beaut was when a blogger friend of mine, Tessa from Unswayed Beauty posted a picture of her recent purchases from Freedommakeupsa.
This highlight looked like something I would gravitate towards so I didn’t hesitate and immediately purchased it.

Packaging

The packaging is kept quite sleek and practical. It has a black plastic bottom and a clear top where you’re able to see the actual product. The container feels quite strong and sturdy so I’m guessing it’s quite durable especially for the clumsy ladies. I, however, haven’t dropped it to test out the durability. LOL. I don’t live on the edge like that. Nah uh!
There’s a gorgeous design on the actual powder which I love because it just adds a little bit of character. It has a lovely 3D wave-like pattern with the word Freedom engraved above it.

Texture and lasting powder

The texture of the powder felt a little chunky when I touched and swatched it with my finger. I was quite worried because one immediately assumes that it won’t wear well, will look super glittery and emphasis textured skin. Luckily I had absolutely nothing to worry about, this highlight felt super soft on the skin and applied with ease. This formula provides a soft sheen of colour that looks flawless on the skin. It’s also extremely pigmented but since it’s not glittery, you won’t have an issue of feeling like you have overdone it.
This specific highlight is in the shade Glow, a very bright yellow gold shade. This is probably the most yellow gold highlighter I own. I didn’t think it would suit my skintone but I was wrong. I absolutely adore the way the shade compliments my skintone. It might be a little too yellow for very pale skintones.
The lasting power is also pretty impressive. It lasted for as long as my actual foundation lasted, which is usually about 8-10 hours because I use a good primer so my foundation stays put, especially around my cheek area.

Overall Thoughts

I love that this brand offers such a wide range of products. I’ve only reviewed 2 products but from what I’ve heard, most of their products are of great quality. They are probably one of the most affordable brands out there and most of their customers are quite pleased.
I quite liked the feel of these lipsticks. They aren’t uncomfortable at all and the light pink shade was the only one that needed to be reapplied during the day. The others settled to a very comfortable matte and wore well throughout the day.
I am quite amazed by how gorgeous this highlight looks on my skintone. It applies effortlessly and wears beautifully.
Sooo, I thought why not share these with one of my followers.
