Colourpop Matte Lux Lipsticks Review + Swatches

Two weeks ago I reviewed the Colourpop Crème lux lipsticks and today I wanna share my thoughts on the matte formula from this range.

I love the idea of having a variety of finishes. I know many people suffer from extremely dry and cracked lips. The creme lux lipsticks are a LUX blend of Acai, Jojoba and Pomegranate Seed butter that hydrate the lips, therefore perfect for those with dry lips.

What sets Colourpop’s matte finish apart from the rest is that they are enriched with Pomegranate, Goji Fruit, and Grape Seed extracts. These ingredients protect your lips from environmental stressors and premature ageing. I love when brands add ingredients with added skin benefits.

The packaging is exactly the same as the creme lux lipstick. A beautiful rose gold tube and star prints around the tube as well as stars embossed on the actual lipstick.

The texture of these lipsticks feels really creamy for matte lipsticks. I’ve noticed that some feel more creamy than others. They all, however, apply with ease and are intensely pigmented. These remind me of the Colourpop Matte lippie stix. They feel lightweight, are long-wearing and don’t bleed or crack. They claim to have a soft blurring technology, so I guess this is what fills in the lines, giving it that smooth finish.

The lipsticks wear extremely well. There is some initial transfer but nothing too crazy. I can easily get about 8-10 of wear without needing to touch up or feeling like I need a lip balm. They aren’t drying at all.

From left to right Paparazzi, mind trick, Maxed out, High Striker

Paparazzi – described as a “warm rose” colour. It has a subtle coral undertone which I quite like. Perfect shade for Spring

Mind trick – described as a brick red. This was one of my go-to autumn shades. Just so stunning

Maxed out – described as a vibrant fuchsia and that’s exactly what it is. So bright and bold. Love me a gorgeous fuchsia

High striker – described as a blue-red. A perfect red lipstick for those of you who love red lipsticks as much as I do.

Final thoughts

Overall, I must say that these are an excellent buy. Not only is the packaging really cute but you’re also getting added benefits from the great ingredients included in the formula.

The matte finish is beautiful and really took me by surprise as they are non-drying yet insanely pigmented and the colours on the lip are true to the colours in the tube.

They don’t look dry, don’t lose their intensity and you can easily get around 8 hours of wear.

Let me know if you’ve tried these and if you love them as much as I do?
