New M.A.C Cosmetics Fix + Goldlite Review
Hey Guys!
It’s Day 4 and I feel a little sad that it’s nearing the end because I really enjoy collaborating with my friend Simone. If you’ve read day 2’s post then you would know that I reviewed the Cover Fx illuminating setting spray. Today I’m reviewing something similar in that it contains shimmer/glitter, but this baby is from M.A.C Cosmetics.
Glowing like a goddess is super trendy and I don’t think this trend will fade anytime soon. Healthy glowy skin has been the makeup go to look for many and if you’re an oily girl like me, you’ll most likely pass up on such trends but the amazing thing is that brands have developed products for oily girls so fear not. We can also glow to the gods.
M.A.C Cosmetics Fix + Goldlite – 100ml –
Description
Fan-favourite Fix+ is now infused with pearlescent particles for the ultimate glow. This formula still carries all the hydrating, soothing and refreshing benefits of the original version and improves the wear of makeup up to 12 hours, along with the addition of pearl for an ultra-illuminating effect on the skin. Skin looks both healthy and radiant.
KEY CLAIMS AND BENEFITS
My experience with M.A.C Fix+ Goldlite
Disclaimer: I have oily skin and testing this in winter gives the spray a bit of an advantage, so bear in mind these may not perform the same in summer.
I was fascinated by the shimmery goodness that this liquid contains, it’s astonishingly beautiful. Pure Magic, I tell you. The bottle looks identical to the original and the matte fix + bottles. The only difference is that this one has this stunning gold writing.
The M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix+ is infused with pearlescent particles and comes in two shades: Goldlite and Pinklite. As the name indicates, Goldlite will give you a subtle bronzy glow, while Pinklite is great for adding a little hint of pink.
This is another product that has mixed reviews. Some feel that it’s not luminescent enough and that it gives a glow but nothing to rave about. I agree that it isn’t extremely illuminating and I think that’s what I love most about it. It isn’t overly done so you won’t run the risk of looking like a disco ball, well unless you spray the whole damn thing on your face, lol! One thing to note is that this is a fixing spray with pearlescent particles as stated above. So you’re still getting that natural radiant and hydrated look but with a subtle glow.
For control purposes, I decided to test all the sprays using the exact same face product because the different formulas in primers and foundations can alter the performance of the spray. I used the following products:
- Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF 50 – Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF 50+ is a daily sunscreen with a very high sun protection factor specifically formulated for oily and acne-prone facial skin
- Glamglow volcasmic matte glow moisturizer – Our first-of-its-kind matte glow mega moisturizer that does it all: hydrates, primes, and controls shine. VOLCASMIC™ delivers rich moisture to your skin with its advanced lightweight pressed water balm formula, leaving skin deeply hydrated yet non-shiny, with a sexy velvet finish.
- Cover Fx blurring primer – A lightweight, soft focus primer that blurs the appearance of pores, fine lines, and other imperfections creating a smooth canvas for a flawless foundation application.
- Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation – Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation gives skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish that easily builds to medium to full coverage. The oil-free formula is made with climate-adaptive technology that’s resistant to sweat and humidity, and won’t clog pores so that wherever you are, it’s going to work on your skin. Best of all, this long-wearing, light-as-air texture is undetectable on the skin—so you always look like you.
I tested each of the sprays for full days (usually about 8-10hours) and I checked in at the 5-hour and 8-hour mark and if I’ve had it on for longer than 8 hours then I would check in before removing my makeup.
5-hour – I’ve had two incidences where I overdid it with the original fix + and looked oily by this time, so when I read that this has the same formula as the fix+ I knew I needed to “use it with caution” eg. Just spray enough. This melted my makeup beautifully, so I second that it fixes one’s makeup. The shimmer was subtle but I could still see it. It’s not overly noticeable but looks so stunning in the light. There was so sign of any oils and my makeup looked pretty damn good. No creasing, no fading and no sinking into pores and fine lines.
8 – hour – I was pretty impressed that I had no visible oils seeping through around my problem areas other than the tiniest bit between my eyebrows. My skin still looked radiant and my makeup was still set in place.
End of the day – I decided to wear my makeup a little longer and at this stage, I could see more oils around my t-zone area, especially between my eyebrows and chin. I still had a stunning radiant glow.
Final Thoughts
This might not be everyone’s cup of tea because of the subtle shimmer it contains but I prefer this over an overly loaded shimmer spray. I also love that it has the same formula as the original fix+ so it’s practically a 2 in 1. The only con for me is the nozzle, I find that both the fix+ matte and fix+ goldlite don’t spray as well as the original. It’s a bit aggressive so I try and keep it further away from my face.
Would I recommend this spray? Most definitely! Especially if you’re someone like me who loves a subtle natural glow.
Do you own any of the prep and prime fix + shimmer sprays and if so, what are your thoughts on it?
My blogger bestie Simone over at ” An Ordinary Gal” is reviewing the Slay All Day setting spray and I can’t tell you how envious I am. I’ve been lusting over this spray for the longest time so I’m super eager to hear her thought on this one.
Toodles Stunners!
