Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray Review
Hey, Stunners!
Today is the last day of our 5-day setting spray collaboration and I thought I’d save the best ( in my opinion) for last. Be sure to catch up on the previous 8 posts that Simone and I have posted so far.
I’m sure most of you have already heard of this cult favourite setting spray. The Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray claims to have temperature control technology (woaw, what??) and to last up to 16 hours. How great does that sound?
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray – 118ml – R460
Description
“All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray keeps makeup looking gorgeously just-applied for up to 16 hours—without melting, fading or settling into fine lines.
Developed in an exclusive partnership with Skindinavia, our groundbreaking, the tested formula is suitable for all skin types, free of oil and parabens, and features patented Temperature Control Technology. Yep, this baby actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place—even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or all night).
In a 7-day study of All Nighter:*
• 78% of participants said All Nighter helped their makeup last for 16 hours.
• Over 80% said their makeup not only looked better, it stayed on better (even in the T-zone) without settling into fine lines.
• Whether they had combination, oily or dry skin, 88% or more said All Nighter was the best product to help their makeup last.
*Based on a 50-person study.”
My experience with the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray comes in a black, soft-touch bottle with a purple sprayer and a frosted white cap. I actually prefer this one to the old bottle which was white and it just got dirty so quickly, as is always the case with white packaging. #rollingeyes. It also claims to have microfine mist that goes on super light and I agree with this. The nozzle disperses the perfect amount of product and you’ll only need 3-4 spritz.
When I read that it has temperature control technology, I was quite curious as to what this actually meant and did a little bit of research of my own. If you’ve read through the description section you’ll realise that this “technology” was Developed in an exclusive partnership with Skindinavia.
I obtained this information from the Skindinavia site:
Disclaimer: I have oily skin and testing this in winter gives the spray a bit of an advantage, so bear in mind these may not perform the same in summer.
For control purposes, I decided to test all the sprays using the exact same face product because the different formulas in primers and foundations can alter the performance of the spray. I used the following products:
- Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF 50
- Glamglow volcasmic matte glow moisturizer
- Cover Fx blurring primer
- Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
I tested each of the sprays for full days (usually about 8-10hours) and I checked in at the 5-hour and 8-hour mark and if I’ve had it on for longer than 8 hours then I would check in before removing my makeup.
5 – hour – My makeup still looked the same as when I first applied, flawless, no creasing, no cracking, no separation, no sinking into pores or fine lines and definitely no oils.
8 – hour – I obviously expected to see some oils and the area between my eyebrows is usually the first spot I check for oils. There was NOTHING! My makeup still looked flawless.
End of the day – My makeup was still intact and I had worn it for a little over 12 hours and felt like I could still have worn it for longer. There was a tiny bit of oil between my eyebrows but it wasn’t to a point where I would need to touch up.
Final Thoughts
I’ve been using this setting spray for over a year now and believe that it definitely delivers what it claims.
The fact that my makeup still looked so good after 12 hours shows that the study claiming to have your makeup looking flawless for up to 16 hours is probably true. I haven’t worn my makeup for longer than 12 hours but I’d definitely love to put it to the 16-hour test sometime in the near future.
This is a must-have in any makeup fanatics collection. It’s especially great during hotter seasons when you need reliable setting spray.
Do you own this? Do you agree that it’s worth every penny?
I enjoy collaborating with my blogger bestie “An Ordinary Gal” and I’m excited for more like these. We thought it would be a great Idea to do a top 5 ranking, 1 being the favourite etc
- Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray
- M.A.C fix+ Matte
- M.A.C Goldlite
- Coverfx Illuminating setting spray
- WetnWild photofocus matte setting spray
“An Ordinary Gal” is reviewing the Mac Fix+ original on her blog today. This is another cult favourite and one I most definitely can’t go without so I’m curious to hear if she loves it as much as I do.

This is my holy grail spray. I’ve tried the good drugstore ones like the infallible from L’Oreal and the results are just not the same, especially because I wear my makeup for 9+ hours. THis is the only spray that doesn’t crease my eyeshadow half-way through the day.
