Colourpop Yes, Please Eyeshadow Palette Review + Giveaway

Hey guys!
It’s the last day of our amazing week of eyeshadow palette reviews and the most exciting of the five. If you recall, I mentioned that we might have a little surprise for you guys on this day, so if you’re keen on finding out what this could be, then please keep reading.
I’m sure you can already tell by the title that I’ll be reviewing the much-hyped Colourpop Yes, please eyeshadow palette. I swear the minute I laid my eyes on this palette I knew I had to own it. I purchased a few of their single pressed shadows when they just launched and was super impressed by the quality, so I was thrilled when I saw that they were releasing an eyeshadow palette and knew that this was the start of the release of many stunning palettes and man, was I right.
I usually order directly from the Colourpop website using my aramexglobalshopper account and try my best to do so when they’re running sales. I also try not to spend more than R450 because I’ve been lucky enough not to get charged customs on orders lower than this value.

Description

Pressed Powder Shadow
Highly pigmented shadow that applies evenly and feels ultra-velvety and silky. This long-wearing formula contains a unique combination of softer powders which adheres easily to the eyes, gives a soft focus effect, and blends smoothly and evenly.
Finish Matte, Metallic
Shade Neutrals, Oranges/Corals, Reds, Golds, Yellows/Oranges

Packaging

The outer casing of this palette is a bright yellow sleeve, nothing too exciting. The eyeshadows come housed in a white sturdy cardboard that has a magnetic closure. When I saw this I knew that this was a smudge disaster waiting to happen. Keeping this palette clean is a nightmare, I don’t even bother anymore. lol. I appreciate that they have shade names printed on the back of the palette but reading these shades to match the actual shadows is another mission on its own. The names aren’t printed directly behind the actual shades. You have to flip it over and read it by how you view the palette when you look at it straight on. Hope this makes sense. Lol. I see they have listened to their customers and have printed the names on the recently released eyeshadow palette named “give it to me straight” underneath each shadow.

These shadows are buttery soft, extremely pigmented and blend out beautifully. I know these words get used repeatedly to describe a really good quality shadow but how else would one describe such an easy to use palette? There is some kick up when you dip your brush into the shadows so be sure to tap the brush to get rid of any excess before applying. I really love the quality of these shadows, they blend so well together without looking patchy or muddy. I achieved all these swatches in one swipe and how breathtakingly beautiful are these?

There were two products that I added to my Colourpop collection towards the end of last year that I’ve just been living for. I don’t want this post to be too long so I’m just gonna give a shorten review on these items.

Colourpop Supernova Shadow – hard to empress

Colourpop Supernova - slayuniqueness
I’ve always been quite intrigued by liquid shadows and I’ve had my eye on the Stila liquid eyeshadows for quite some time. I just wasn’t ready to spend around R325 for one liquid eyeshadow. These supernova shadows were part of Kathleen Lights favourites where she had a 20% off promo code to use so I figured I’d give these a try. These liquid shadows only retail for $7 and with the 20% off I only paid $5.6. I got the shade Hard to Empress which is described as a warm red with gold duochrome and silver, gold, and copper glitter.

The formula of this specific shade works pretty well. It’s liquidy but not overly wet which means it applies with ease. It has opaque coverage with one single application on the lid and the glitter particles aren’t grainy. It feels so smooth on the lids and dries pretty fast which I prefer. I’ve used a liquid shadow of a drugstore brand that took forever to dry and this can become messy because it transfers easily onto the upper lid.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Arriba

Colourpop Arriba - slayuniqueness
Colourpop Arriba is described as a warm true red colour and is part of the Colourpop X iIluvsarahii collection. This is just the perfect red and reminds me a bit of Mac Rubywoo. I’m sure many of you are quite clued up on the Colourpop matte lippies. I find that there are some inconsistencies because some mattes don’t feel as dry as others. This one is a tad bit dry but nothing extremely uncomfortable.

Overall Thoughts

The Yes, please palette is said to be a dupe for the $129 Natasha Denona Sunset palette by people like Kathleenlights and at only $16 for something that’s such a close dupe for a high-end brand? I’d choose the more affordable option every time. The entire palette is stunning and extremely pigmented. I’ve swatched palettes that cost a lot more, that needed to be built up in order to show up nicely. The only negative for me is the packaging, which isn’t a big deal. I think if they had the palette covered with a sticky plastic film that it would’ve solved the smudgy mess.
Out of all the Colourpop palettes I own, I still find myself reaching for this one over and over again. It’s just too gorgeous!
Here’s a look I created using this palette.
