My Top 5 Favourite Makeup Products

Hey Guys!
Happy Hump day! Is it just me or has this year gone by really fast? I feel like we say this every year but damn, I honestly can’t believe we’re already in the month of July.
Anyhoo, I suppose we just need to adjust and make the most of our time.
So as you can tell from the title, today I’ll be sharing with you, my Top 5 favourite Makeup products but this isn’t a normal post. Today I’ve collaborated with a YouTuber called JadeChallis. How exciting?  She and I have discussed this quite a while ago and have finally decided that we were gonna share with our followers our Top 5 favourite makeup products. I’ll be writing a post and she will publish her video on her youtube channel.
JadeChallis is a gorgeous beauty blogger and YouTuber. I think she’s absolutely stunning and soo talented. Please subscribe to her channel and follow her on Instagram and Facebook.
This is a first for both of us and I’m very excited about it because it’s a little different from the usual and I think it always keeps things exciting.

My Top 5 Favourite Makeup Products

The products I’ve selected are part of my top favourites because they are products I use almost every day.  These products are ones I’ve used for awhile now and I’ve repurchased most of them several times and will continue doing so because I know they work well.

Smashbox Photofinish oil free primer

Smashbox PhotoFinish Oil Free Primer
I’ve used quite a few primers and haven’t been too lucky until I found this baby. I’ve been using this primer for the past 2 years and it’s honestly one of the best primers I’ve tried especially for my oily t-zone. You need less than a pea size and it’s enough to apply over your entire face and because it’s a silicone base, it applies and spreads easily.
Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer
It leaves my skin super soft and creates a smooth canvas for my foundation. It helps the foundation apply smoothly and definitely helps with the staying power of any foundation. The only downside to this product is that it’s quite pricey. It retails for R475 for 30ml and can be purchased from Woolworths. This primer does last very long, so a little definitely goes a long way.

MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre

This was such an amazing find and I’m so glad I decided to purchase it. It’s the perfect yellow base highly pigmented creamy eyeshadow base. I love that it’s creamy and covers all those little green and blue veins and once it’s set with a powder it leaves a perfect creaseless base for any eyeshadow and definitely makes applying eyeshadow easier and increases the longevity of the eyeshadows.
I watched one of Nikkia Joy’s youtube videos where she discussed tips on how to stop foundation rubbing off your nose and she mentioned that she uses a little mac paint pot on her nose before applying her foundations and Maan, has this changed my life. I have never looked back and my nose looks flawless every time. So this is definitely a trick you could try if you struggle with the same problem.
I also dab a little over red spots from the odd one or two pimples I get around my t-zone and it covers it perfectly. These retail for R270 and you can purchase it from any MAC store or selected Edgars stores.

Inglot Kohl Pencil in 01

Thanks to a friend I was able to try out this eye pencil. I must admit that I’ve had my fair share of bad experiences because I have sensitive eyes. I’ve wasted a lot of money buying eye pencils that just irritated my eyes. When I swatched this on my hand I was amazed by how smooth and pigmented it was, this is exactly what I look for in an eye pencil. Once applied it has a soft velvety appearance that blends effortlessly and sets to a waterproof, smudge-proof, and transfer proof finish.

These eye pencils retail for R229 at any Inglot store or selected Edgars stores.

Essence I Heart Extreme Mascara

I have always been a mascara kinda girl. On days when I don’t feel like wearing the works but just want to look put together, I lightly fill my brows in, apply some mascara and slap on lip balm and I’m good to go. I feel that a mascara just sort of creates a wide awake look that we sometimes need just to look fresh and this mascara has been my go to for the longest time.
I absolutely love how girly the packaging is and the extra large wand has to be my favourite part. The little bristles are separated perfectly to give your lashes that separated yet voluminous look with added length. This is really an amazing mascara and I have not found another that compares, especially from a price point. It retails for R54.95 and you can find them at any dischem or clicks stores.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

This has to be the best thing that has happened to me since I’ve started implementing setting sprays into my makeup routine.
” This setting spray is said to actually lower the temperature of your makeup to keep your makeup looking smooth in humid or cold conditions without settling in lines or caking for about 16 hours.”
I love that this spray gives that refreshed feeling straight after you have sprayed it to set your makeup. It doesn’t take too long to dry and once its dry it doesn’t feel tight or uncomfortable. You’ll instantly notice a slightly more dewy look but give it a few minutes and you’ll see it settle beautifully. It really does give a flawless finish to your makeup and sets everything in place.
I’m a little bummed because it’s not really affordable and I have decided to keep it for “special occasions”. It Retails for about R450 the last time I checked. I’ll for now have to go back to my Avon Setting Spray which I love, I have shared my thought on it and you can read about it here.
I really hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post. Which are your favourite products that you use nearly every day? Have you tried any of the ones on my list and if so, are they some of your favourites? Would love to hear from you guys.
