My Top 5 Summer Fragrances

I’m sure most of us would agree that there’s a strong connection between fragrances and memory. Fragrances just generally make us feel happier and one of the reasons it awakens so much feeling is because of the release of pheromones (a chemical substance produced and released into the environment). This feeling of escape and the ability to show individuality through fragrances is one of the main reasons I enjoy shopping for new fragrances.

I don’t have a crazy collection but there are a few that I consider must-haves if you’re a fan of vanilla and floral notes/scents. I looked through my collection and thought I’d share my top 5 summer fragrances.

Giorgio Armani Sì Eau de Parfum

” Si is a tribute to modern femininity, an irresistible combination of grace, strength, and independent spirit. A modern chypre reinvented, Si opens with deep blackcurrant nectar that softly recedes to airy florals. A base of musky blond wood adds lightness while grounding the fragrance for a lingering, distinctive trail. Notes: Chypre, Blackcurrant Nectar, Airy Florals, Musky Blond Wood. Style: Graceful. Modern. Unconventional.”

The perfectly balanced blend of immediately noticeable top notes includes white cedar wood and Italian blackberries. As these notes fade, the middle notes become more prominent, revealing sweet nectar, May rose and the warmth of cassis. My favourite has to be the base notes which are Patchouli, Woods, Amber and vanilla.

I finished a bottle of this fragrance and was so bummed but then received this set as a gift from my gran (she has great taste, right?). The bottle is kept sleek, slim, elegant and simple and the other two products are a 75ml shower gel and a 75ml body cream.

This is a beautiful feminine, sensuous and one of the best Floriental perfumes out there.

Lancôme La vie est belle Eau de Parfum

” “La vie est belle”, a French expression meaning “Life is beautiful”; the manifesto of a new era. Universal yet personal, Lancôme’s femininity is a choice embraced by women, not an imposed standard. The choice to live one’s life and fill it with beauty. Your own way. The fragrance of joyful femininity and happiness. The fragrance that makes life more beautiful.”

The only way I could possibly describe this fragrance is that it’s elegant, captivating and delightful. This semi-sweet, flirty fragrance is a personification of summer and that is why it’s so comforting to wear during this season.

It dries down so beautifully that I find myself smelling my wrist while lying in bed and that feeling is just so comforting.

Oh, and it’s apparently a huge hit with men (hands over eyes).

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau De Parfum Wild Edition

” Black Opium now comes in the Wild Limited Collector’s edition dressed in leopard print. The highly addictive feminine fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent. Fascinating and seductively intoxicating, the opening notes of adrenaline-rich coffee and the sweet sensuality of vanilla recline into the softness of white flowers for a modern, young, and vibrant interpretation of addiction. “

A sexy explosion of coffee, white petals and sweet, creamy vanilla. This captivating fragrance has my hubby going crazy (haha). The scent is truly intoxicating, to say the least. I’ve never received so many compliments from a perfume so I guess it’s safe to say that this scent carries sophistication and confidence.

Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Parfum

” A new feminine fragrance, inspired by Paris, the city of love.

A new sparkling fragrance inspired by Paris, the city of intense love. Red berries and pear immediately exude sensuality and femininity. The exotic white datura flower, the soul of the fragrance, embodies desire and seduces the senses. Finally, this modern and daring floral scent is balanced by creamy white musks and patchouli. The experience is a passionate and unforgettable whirlwind journey to Paris.  “

This fragrance was my wedding fragrance and the last time I used it was on our flight back home from our honeymoon. Hubby dearest and I have decided to leave our wedding fragrances for anniversaries and special dates.

First of all, this packaging is just breathtakingly beautiful, it’s so feminine and made for amazing pictures on our wedding day, definitely something you would expect from YSL.

At first, you would think it’s a complex perfume but once settled you’ll realise that it has a perfect blend of floral, fruit and musk.

It screams out passion and romance and was the perfect scent for our special day.

DKNY Be Delicious EDP

” A modern feast for the senses. Served in a sleek metal and glass apple bottle, a juicy fragrance that combines the scent of apple with exotic flowers and sensual woods. “

This is probably one of the most recognisable bottles out there. A sleek metal and glass round/apple bottle. This is hands down my most refreshing, fun and flirty fragrances. A very casual everyday long wearing fragrance that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

The crispness and the way it develops and eventually settles on your skin is something truly enticing.

Final Thoughts

There are so many reasons why we choose to wear fragrances and our choices are so personal. We all have distinct preferences and some noses can’t tolerate certain notes, so what I find “Amazing” you could find rather “meh”. Perfumes also settle so differently on our skin and this all boils down to the pH balance of the skin (everyone’s differs slightly) which can change the way a scent smells on our skin.  So make sure you test it on your skin to make sure it loves you back before you part ways with your hard earned cash. Lol.

The beauty of fragrances and its ability to connect us with memories and help us show our uniqueness is phenomenal. It’s such a confidence booster and an experience of beauty in its own right.

Let me know which are your favourite fragrances? Do you own any of the 5 I’ve mentioned and your thoughts on these?
