Morphe x Jeffree Star Beauty Sponge Trio {Review}

Just two weeks ago I thought, wow, how awesome is it that we still have warm weather and then boom, full swing into autumn (and yes, autumn, not winter lol). I was never ready lol. But hey, it’s a change so we shall embrace it.

Today, I’m sharing my thought on this beauty sponge trio. I generally use a foundation brush for my foundation application but I always go over with a beauty sponge. Beauty sponges, in my opinion, give a flawless finish. I also use a sponge for my concealer, to set my concealer with loose powder as well as for liquid highlighter. So as you can tell, beauty sponges are essentials for my makeup application. I use them daily.

Morphe x Jeffree Star Beauty Sponge Trio – $16

I wasn’t surprised when I heard that Morphe and Jeffree star were collaborating on this set. I know from watching his youtube videos that he’s been a Morphe fan since the beginning. Included in this collaboration is a brush set that contains 7 different brushes for face and eyes and it comes with a little bag, as well as the beauty sponge trio. I didn’t have the budget to purchase everything and I generally don’t go crazy over brush releases, so I wasn’t too bummed about it. But because I really enjoy a good beauty sponge, I figured I’d purchase these and they’re priced really well.

Beauty Sponge Trio Description

1. Highlight & Contour Beauty Sponge – We all know and love our OG beauty sponge, but it totally needed a pink moment. What Jeffree wants, Jeffree gets. The
chiselled edge delivers the ultimate control for contouring, highlighting, and baking. Just add water and give it a good squeeze.

“If you’re someone that doesn’t like applying your foundation with a brush – b*tch, I got you.”

2. Mini Highlight & Contour Beauty Sponges – This little guy is ready for some action. Jeffree took the OG and shrunk it down to size so you can conceal under your eyes and bake like a boss. Brilliant.

“For concealer, under the eyes, or if you have really long nails and it’s hard for you to reach certain spots – girl this is it.”

“Hey everyone, this has been such a dream come true to create products with Morphe!  I’m revealing not one but TWO iconic brush and sponge collections that have everything you need for a major beatdown. Even better? They’re all officially Jeffree Star approved and created with love! The packaging. The touch. The color. The performance. BAM. I hope you all love this. You all inspired this, and I can’t wait to see what you create! Dive in, babe…” – Jeffree Star

Wash in warm water using a gentle soap. Rinse and let air-dry.

*Latex Free

Firstly I love that these are pink, yes, I’m a girly girl like that and besides pink is so Jeffree Star so obviously everything had to be pink. I ain’t complaining though. The highlight and contour sponge at first felt quite stiff but once I soaked it in water it became softer and it swoll to a really good size. I use this to blend my foundation and one thing I really love about it is that it doesn’t soak up a lot of product. The chiselled edge as stated in the description is amazing for contouring and baking.

The mini sponges felt soft and I love that they expand to nearly twice the size once it’s been dampened. These are a game changer for blending under your eyes and in the creases. I also use them to set my concealer with loose powder and wow, flawless EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Final Thoughts

I’m really impressed with the sponges and they feel completely different from the original beauty blenders as well as the real techniques miracle sponges. If you love your beauty sponges, as I do, then I would highly recommend that you try these. I know they’re not easily accessible for those of us in South Africa but I’ve seen them on Beyond Cosmetics online store.

I don’t think I’ve done a makeup tool post yet and I’ve been meaning to share my thoughts on the brush set that I’ve been enjoying and would highly recommend and the best part is that it’s a drugstore brand. Let me know if you guys would like this?
